Jamie is very active in the wider Labour Movement. He is hoping to win his home seat of Pudsey back for Labour at the 2015 General Election. He has represented the Labour Party at local, regional and national levels, and has worked internationally including leading policy development work in Serbia and as the UK representative accompanying President Jimmy Carter to oversee the Palestinian Presidential elections.
He is a committed and active member of Unite, both as a local Branch chair and sitting on regional and national committees.
Jamie is a fierce defender of workplace rights. His many articles and commentaries have been published in regional, national and Trade Union press on issues, ranging from fighting for justice for asbestos victims, to the importance of maintaining high health & safety standards. He has also voiced his views on the shameful erosion of workplace rights under the Coalition Government to the importance of the link between Trade Unions and the Labour Party.
